Description:
I have played for about 15 years (off and on) . My right hand has always felt like my problem area , and although I do not intend to “shred”, I would like to not be held back due to speed issues. I often find myself going back and forth between different motions , often reverting to elbow motion when trying to play fast. The issue is that is usually accompanied with WAY too much tension in my shoulder , tricep and upper back, and I run out of stamina quickly. My typical motion ~100bpm I think is more of a forearm/wrist motion and it feels really comfortable and I maintain good tone and endurance but I never seem able to get above 120. In the video I tried short bursts of tremolo using different grips and techniques , followed by just some mindless playing scales/licks to see if maybe we could try to identify what I’m doing habitually. I hope this is a useful video and not a waste of the viewers’ time. My goal is to find and focus on a primary motion to use and practice in hopes of breaking through this playing plateau Im nearly certain is 90%+ due to the picking side of playing. My pick grip feels solid , but at this point I’m open to try anything. I mainly play bluegrass but really want to get into jazz if that helps. Thank you
