Description:
Ok, full disclosure here. I may have PTSD with this lick from not being able to play it properly 30 years ago. lol. This is quite literally as fast as I can play it without the lick falling apart. Picking fast on lower strings has always felt impossible to me, let alone fast across all strings. Sooooo, I decided to do 2 different "versions" of picking. First I tried to keep my hand in a more "ergonomic mouse" position. Did that a few times then switched it to what I have probably been doing for years, which seems like a DSX style switching to a USX on the downstroke string change. I think. Things I noticed with the ergonomic mouse version: Sometimes I feel I need to rock my forearm and pinky side palm a bit to smooth things out. It's a bit less comfortable but more consistent across strings. I hold the pick a little differently, but could get used to it. Actually, never realized how much I fiddle with the pick. I hold it loosely, but don't let go;) It just moves a lot. Observations with the "other" version: Hand tilts back and forth to accommodate moving across strings. Feels like it gets a bit string-hoppy. Especially if I speed things up... Feels like a lot of movement, but not sure if that actually matters. With both versions I feel like the flatter I hold the pick to a zero-degree pick slant, the more feel of string hopping I get, esp the faster I go. If you have suggestions for which to commit to I am game to try. Gonna give whatever style we land on a solid year to see if I can lay this picking thing to rest. lol Also, would love to know if your magnet is for sale somewhere. I'm not satisfied with the angles I get. Thanks again for any feedback. I do feel like I am sorting things out.
