Tap Tests and Updated Tremolo, 20231029
Video of my tap tests and updated tremolo and basic chromatic pattern at my speed limit. I found that I can get faster picking speed if I coil my index finger and trap the pick against it with my thumb, almost like a fist.

Picking Technique that comes natural to me, 2023-10-14
I did this tremolo and lick using the technique that I have been using for years, without trying to stick to the recommended techniques such as escape motion, even number of notes per string, and starting on the proper down or up stroke. These are at my absolute maximum speed, which is obviously less than a respectable shredding speed. Does this show a motion that is more natural to me that I can improve on? What would be the recommended approach and process to optimize my speed and eliminate my string hopping habits?

Sample Video, Dean's Picking Technique, 2023-10-06
Hello, I would really appreciate your feedback. I've been string hopping my whole life- really frustrated that I couldn't get any decent picking speed. I recently set up my membership, watched all of the videos, ran the tests and then experimented with the different techniques. USX feels the most comfortable and also produced the best speed results. In just a matter of days I've made a major improvement in my picking speed. However, it is still nowhere near respectable speeds. Here are my questions: 1. Do you see any problems or areas for improvement in my picking motion? 2. Is it normal that, as a newcomer to your system, there is such a large gap between my tap test speed (180 to 200 range), tremolo speed (170) and my lick playing speed (about 120 max)? 3. What is the process to increase my lick playing speed? I know you say that playing the same lick over and over again while challenging yourself with higher metronome speeds is not the answer. What would you recommend as my next steps?
