Struggling to find USX motion

Description

Hi, team! I have a goal: play Neal Schon's Don't Stop Believing 2nps lick in excess of 190 bpm 16th notes. As a massive EJ fan, I want to accomplish this fast 2nps motion via USX, so I can play his music fluidly as well. However, I'm a DSX elbow player by habit. I rest the thumb heel on the bass string as my go-to form. Last year, I uploaded some weird gypsy jazz elbow picking form that I was using to get fast 2nps and EJ licks under my hands. I wanted to know if it was true USX, and Troy had this to say: "This is not USX..." [ see previous TC ] It was super helpful to hear this! So basically I told myself to keep working on it, try the wrist motion as a hobby and if I can't break through my barriers, ask the CC team again. Well, here I am in the new year. I developed a new neutral technique for the EJ 5s, but 2nps is really difficult with it. I mostly play with that now, so my gypsy technique has fallen off and is less fluid now. I'm kind of left with two subpar techniques now, and to go forward, I need some advice: Should I choose one of these? (videos attached) or should I find a new motion from scratch if I want to reach my 2nps goal? Thanks so much for the help! Alex
