Doublepicking Motion/How to Practice

Being 35 I’m still struggling to get over an issue I’ve had since I was 18 and attended a Joe Stump seminar where he went over the Doublepicking etude, and with that I’ve never been able to learn the opening to Technical Dofficulties, and I’m now struggling to learn the opening to Witch Trials from Revocation. To the best of my knowledge i should be using downward pickslanting with UPX, but the nature of the string skipping it seems to turn into string hopping, and I can’t get past 100 bpm or figure out how to use my term test playing, which feels super comfortable into the rest of my playing. Please help?
