Down Pick Sloppiness

So, I would like a much more accurate down picking technique. I feel like I still struggle with it. Mind you this is a 1/8 note at 230 BPMs. So, its fast. However, I know for a fact that Brandon, from the Black Dahlia Murder, plays it properly, and at all times, on down picking. I try to flatten the pick a little, and sometimes, try to strike the back of the pic, which helps me create a circular motion for the down picking. I find this works best for me. ***Ignore my facial expressions. Not exactly struggling, its just my face when I play guitar sometimes.... Help please :)
