Deciphering my picking motion and escapes (if any) and where the problem is

I have been playing for about 15 years, I can play slowly with feel but have never really been able to play fast despite following Cracking the code since the original Rusty Cooley video and trying to figure it out. I have uploaded two videos, one with me playing with my natural picking style and the second with a modified playing style I took from Anton Oparin. Either option doesn't let me play fast, and feels stuck. This is the "smoothest" line I can play, I suspect because the note choices I am playing suit my natural escape rhythm. I need help and targeted ways to fix my picking, thank you so much.
