Trying to go from a considerable DSX speed to even a semi-decent USX speed.
Description
There are descriptions in the videos themselves, but here is the gist... I can pick fast. Like REALLY REALLY fast. I had to retire in the mid 2ks and have recently started playing again and as it turns out... I still can. But now that there is way to identify motions and what not (y'all are legit geniuses here!) and reasons why certain things are more difficult than others, I want to finally go to battle against my Final Boss: Eric Johnson. And I can't do that using my instinctual motions. Apparently, I'm DSX as hell, though when I'm not playing super fast, I am very flat, which is something I didn't realize before. Anything not top speed probably leans towards DBX, though I've never looked close enough to know for sure. Just that I haven't had much trouble traveling the strings regardless of what motion or slant or stroke I used. My pick hand has always just done what it had to do to get it done and I never looked at it unless I was aiming for an octave PHarm. As much as I don't want to lose that, I do think adding a studied and practiced USX motion will help a ton. It should also be noted that I deal with hand issues, which is why I had to retire back in the day, so I can only play for as long as I can, and that changes day to day. I was an SRV kinda choker and a Hetfield like sledgehammer picker but that's all long gone. I try to play as light as soft as I can, just as a precaution, but I can still throw down if I gotta!! I appreciate this place existing. Thanks! Also, I selected "Upward Pick Slanting" as my lesson category, but I'm not sure if that's right. But that is what I'm trying to do, so I went with it. I hope that doesn't screw everything up....Lesson Category
