Here is a video demoing what it looks like if I try to take alternate picking across the strings. I don’t practice this type of thing at all because I’ve been focused on getting my speed up on a single string. But I feel a “hiccup” in my string tracking around the cross between the G and B strings that makes me feel like I’m hitting a speed bump.

Here are a bunch of economy motions I do applied to a pentatonic scale. These feel super easy for me, annd I don’t experience the same “hand synch” wrench that I do with straight alternate picking, so I’d love to be able to get my regular alternate picking to feel like it’s coming from the same place as this.

This is a lick that I do a lot that feels easy but I can also tell it feels like I’m using different motions for the economy part than I am for the straight alternate part.

This is what it looks like adding the left hand and doing short bursts with the Yngwie 6 pattern. I feel like adding the left hand slows me down a little. Like having to sync is throwing some wrench into the gear and my right hand will sometimes start tensing up if I’m bursting past a few beats.

This is a comfortable tremolo speed for me to sustain for multiple bars with minimal warm up. I don’t know what the BPM is here but I’m dancing between 150-170. With smaller Bursts I’ve hit 180-190.
