Here’s a quick clip of my DSX motion. It feels way more smooth and I can start on both a downstroke or an upstroke and it feels equally controlled. I’m trying to use this motion as a reference for control, smoothness, and tension that I hope to eventually unlock in my USX motion

This video shows my “fast USX” motion. It takes a second to click in, then goes fast and feels like a runaway train. I noticed that my upstrokes feel super weak, so I tried starting a tremolo on an upstroke and it completely fell apart.

This is as fast as I can play USX and control the chunking pattern.
I can play USX faster, but the faster motion feels different, and my upstrokes feel super weak. Almost like I can only do downstrokes and the upstrokes are an “accident” or out of my ability to control. The tempo of my faster USX motion seems to just be off the rails and I can’t slow it down or accent chunks.

I’ve been practicing with the Synchronicity series and I think it’s helping. I still feel like I struggle with the first couple notes of each 65 chunk attempt, before the USX pattern clicks in. But all that being said, I think I’m making progress?

I’m new to USX playing and mainly want to use it for palm muted metal rhythm playing. Is this motion looking ok?

Practicing my USX technique. I can get a low string tremolo going but it’s hard to control the speed. Once I get a clean tremolo, it’s hard to slow it down.

I tried playing some chugs starting on an upstroke instead of a downstroke. I like the tone better, and in some ways it feels more comfortable, but I’m concerned it might create some difficulties when riffing on higher strings, then jumping down to a low string starting. It feels difficult jumping down to the low string on an upstroke.
