Need help with Alternate Picking

Just trying this out. I've hit some major hurdles over the last decade or so. This is pretty much what I can do. I'll do another video of my trainwreck cross-picking. It's easy and feels easy for me to do fast scalar lines that don't skip strings. As soon as I get into string skipping, or inside picking, it falls apart. I'm not certain which lesson category to go in, so please forgive and correct me if I have the wrong one. I'm excited to hear your critique and get through this wall!
