Overview of Will's picking
Description
Lesson
Motion Mechanics
Hi, I've found 2 different versions of placing my hand on the bridge when picking.
1st video) Using the heel of my hand with my fingers tucked in. This is how I naturally play and practice when I'm sitting down.
2nd video) Using the edge of my pinky finger with my fingers splayed out. This changes the angle of the pick in a more downwards direction. This is the way I typically play when I stand up as I sling my guitar significantly lower than when I sit down.
I've been playing guitar for nearly 30 years...went to music college.. I play and perform and record regularly...but I just seem to stink at picking. I would say my top speed is around 120bpm for 16th notes, and that's pushing it!
So I'm looking at getting some clarity as to what it is that I am doing and getting some feedback on the knowledge that I already have and get some tweaks and feedback and direction.
So please consider this a big "overview" of where I'm at.
I appreciate you being direct and honest and thorough with your response!! Thank you in advance.
