Description
Wim Den Herder’s amazing compositions fuse mechanical curiosity with rare melodic sensibility. You could easily mistake Wim’s signature interlocking parts for the work of an acoustic duo, or at the very least the product of Atkins-style fingerpicking. But his performances are actually the result of impossible flat pick chops and clever mechanical thinking.
In this one-hour conversation we discuss Wim’s compositional techniques, as well as the evidence-driven approach to practice, learning, and transcription that helped him develop his incredible chops. The talk contains three song performances, “Wimpicking”, “Karoshi”, and “Mad Max”, along with 40 more musical examples with tablature.
